On Monday 6 June the celebrations of the 72nd Anniversary of the D-Day landing were held at the Shrine of Remembrance. The Normandy Veterans Association had organised a very moving ceremony, with various wreath laying and speeches to the numerous retired Australian soldiers who participated to the liberation of France.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Second World War, the President of the French Republic, Mr Francois Hollande, decided to honour veterans who fought for the Liberation of France with the award of the Legion d’Honneur. Lest we forget.
