The French community in Melbourne was pleased to welcome the French Senator Jacqueline Deromedi for her first time in Australia, on 18 and 19 October 2016.
On Tuesday 18 October, with the company of the Consular Consellor Mrs Danièle Kemp and of the Honorary Consulate of France in Melbourne Ms Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie and, Ms Deromedi had the opportunity to visit several French schools in Melbourne, including Caulfield Junior College, Auburn High School, Glen Eira College, before attending a reception at the Alliance Française of Melbourne.
After touring the Alliance, Ms Deromedi met the representatives of the French local community around a glass of champagne graciously offered by Pommery.
Senator Jacky Deromedi gave a brief speech in which she thanked all the people present at the meeting for their involvement in the promotion of the French life and culture in Melbourne.
On Wednesday 19 October, Ms Deromedi met with Dr Alice Pebay, a French scientist at the Centre for Eye Research, before being interviewed by Christophe Mallet in the Studio SBS Radio.
