2021 Europe Day Seminar in Melbourne

Did you know that there is a Europe Day each year on the 9th of May? This day celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date was chosen to mark the anniversary of the historic ‘Schuman declaration‘. At a speech in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman, the then French foreign minister, set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between Europe’s nations unthinkable.

To celebrate this occasion in Melbourne, the EU Delegation will be holding a free seminar for Europe Day on Monday 10 May at 12pm.

You can attend this event either in person at RMIT University or online. Three experts will discuss the topic “The European Green Deal After the Pandemic.”

  • HE Dr Michael Pulch- EU Ambassador to Australia: Introductory remarks on the European Green Deal
  • Marian Wilkinson- Author of “The Carbon Club: Australia’s Climate Policy in the Lead Up to the Glasgow COP2
  • David Suder- Monash University: Can Australia Leverage the European Green Deal to Boost its own Energy Transition

Even if it is a free event, you need to register here.
