Europe Day 2022

Europe Day, on the 9th of May, is an annual celebration  of peace and unity in Europe. The date was chosen to mark the anniversary of the historic ‘Schuman declaration‘ by Robert Schuman, the then French foreign minister, in 1950.

As we are witness of the unthinkable, an unsollicited invasion of Ukraine with the devastating effects of the war being felt even outside its borders, the EU Delegation will be holding a free seminar for Europe Day on Thursday 12 May at 12 pm to discuss European energy security.

Th distinguisehd panel composed of European Union Ambassador HE Dr Michael Pulch, French Ambassador in Australia HE Mr Jean-Pierre Thébault and International technical expert in hydrogen and renewable energies Ms. Prune Bokobza will answer important questions such as: How can a transition to clean energy faster reduce the EU’s gas dependency on Russia? In what ways can energy security strengthen the EU as an international actor? The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Emma Shortis and be followed by a Q&A.

The event is either face to face at RMIT University, Building 1, Council Chamber 124 La Trobe Street, Melbourne
or in video stream.
It is a free event but you must book here !
