Beata Dorain, a polish-born ceramic artist and sculptor living in Melbourne, offers you to participate to her “Fast Coiling Workshop” on Saturday 25th February from 10am to 4pm at Le Studio Art Space!
Beata Dorain completed 5 years of study in Ceramic and Design at The Academy of Fine Art in Wroclaw, Poland, and has since held two solo exhibitions, has had her work selected as a finalist for the Mary Lou Senini student award in 2015 and won Mal Wood Foundry award in 2016 Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition.
During this one-day workshop you will have the opportunity to learn a special hand-building technique through a series of exercises designed to teach you to:
- Roll even coils
- Build a cylindrical form from coils and how to attach coils without using any slip or scoring
- Control the directions of a coiled object. closing and opening forms
- Building strong, thin-walled, large structures.
- Texturing and decoration
At the end of the day you will have created your own decorative garden planter which will be later fired to stoneware temperature and ready to be picked up in few weeks.
