For two weeks in September (2nd to the 6th and the 9th to the 14th), The Melbourne French Theatre Company will be performing Moliere’s George Dandin ou le mari confondu at La Maison de Maître in Carlton.
This tragic yet amusing play begins with the ill-fated marriage of George Dandin to Angelique Sotenville, a woman of noble birth. Both beautiful and frivolous, Angelique’s contempt for her marriage to the socially inferior Dandin is revealed when her husband discovers that she is having an affair. What unfolds is a fast-pace and gripping portrayal of a husband’s effort to avert disaster and claim the heart of his promiscuous wife once and for all.
A must see performance!
