On Saturday 1st August, personalities from all around Australia gathered at the Alliance Française de Canberra to celebrate the 230th anniversary of the departure of the expedition around the Pacific Ocean led by the distinguished explorer and navigator Jean François de Galaup, Comte de Lapérouse.

The highlight of the event was the reading of the poem ‘Enigma Variations’ written by poet Ian Baillieu, introduced by Mrs Catherine Cardinet. The students from Telopea Park Franco-Australian School and members of the Lapérouse Museum in Sydney were part of the event.
