On Thursday 28 November, the Alliance Française hosted the international French Teacher Day that was organised in cooperation with the Association of French Teachers in Victoria and the Forum de la Francophonie. This annual event aims to celebrate the French teachers everywhere in the world! This year, the theme was innovation in education.
After the welcome by Gilbert Ducasse, president of the Alliance Française, and a few words by Sarah Brichet, intern a the Honorary Consulate-General of France in Melbourne, Ms. Isabelle Mangeot, Master of Ceremony, introduced the two main speakers:
Sophie Perreard, from the Centre of Humanitarian Leadership of Deakin University, talked about the humanitarian leadership program she created, mixing concrete actions and theories.
Linton Roe from the DET commented on the importance of encouraging people to speak another language, notwithstanding their mistakes.
The evening concluded with nibbles and drinks and a lot of animated conversations. ?
