Fundraising Concert for Notre Dame at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

St Patrick’s Cathedral 1 Cathedral Place, East Melbourne, will host a fundraising concert from 6:30pm on Friday May 17, to assist in the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral following its recent devastation. A group of talented organists will play the music of some of the greatest French composers on the grand organ of St Patrick’s Cathedral to salute Notre Dame de Paris, including the following pieces:

  • Felix-Alexandre Guilmant (1837-1911): 
    • Marche Funèbre et Chant Séraphique – Fantaisie, Op. 17 No. 3
  • Louis Vierne (1870-1937): 
    • Carillon de Westminster from Pièces de Fantaisie – Troisième suite, Op. 54 No. 6
    • Final from Organ Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 20
  • Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937)
    • Toccata from Organ Symphony No. 5 in F minor, Op. 42 No. 1
  • Marcel Dupré (1886-1971)
    • Prelude and Fugue in G minor from Three Preludes and Fugues, Op. 7 No. 3
  • Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992)
    • Apparition de l’église éternelle [Apparition of the eternal church]
  • Nicolas de Grigny (1672-1703)
    • Veni Creator from Livre d’orgue
  • Jean Langlais (1907-1991)
    • Chant héroïque from Nine Pieces, Op. 40 No. 4
