On Tuesday 8 September, the Australian Association of French and English Bilingual Schools (AAFEBS) was launched at Telopea Park School in Canberra.

AAFEBS is an organisation of primary and secondary French-English bilingual schools in Australia, most of which are accredited by the French Ministry of National Education or recognised through the label “FrancÉducation”. The association aims to promote and support French-English bilingual education in Australia and share knowledge, experience and teaching expertise.

The ten member schools (of which four are Victorian, making Victoria the most represented state) educate and prepare their students for global citizenship and admission to universities in both countries. The level of French immersion and the number of subjects taught in English or French vary by school and grade level.

The four Victorian member schools are Auburn High School, Camberwell Primary School, L’École Française de Melbourne (EFM) at Caulfield Junior College and Glen Eira College.
