On Wednesday March 20, Mr. Seved Robin, CEO of Bouygues Construction Australia, was the guest speaker of the Australian French Association for Science and Technology – AFAS. He discussed the Metro Tunnel project for Melbourne’s metropolitan rail system.
The Metro Tunnel is one of Bouygues Construction Australia’s largest Private-Public Partnership (PPP) contracts. Bouygues is cooperating in the project with Lendlease Engineering and John Holland, under a joint venture called Cross Yarra Partnership. Bouygues is delivering the design and construction of a new North-South rail line comprising twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five underground stations, including two stations in the CBD. Anzac Station will considerably reduce congestion along St. Kilda Road – the longest tram corridor in the world ! The two CBD stations also present logistical and technical challenges to surmount.
