Reopening of the Direct Line between Nouméa and Melbourne

A French paradise accessible in less than 4 hours from Melbourne!

The direct air route between Nouméa and Melbourne, operated by New Caledonian airline AirCalin, was successfully relaunched on December 8, allowing the direct connection between Victoria and New Caledonia. Initially opened in 2013, the route had been interrupted in 2020 due to the pandemic.

To celebrate the event, a New Caledonian delegation boarded the first flight on Friday December 8. In an interview with SBS French, the member of the New Caledonian parliament in charge of transport, Gilbert Tyuienon, declared that the reopening of the line represented a real economic boost which will have a direct impact on the island’s tourist appeal.
