The European Elections are fast approaching!

Here’s a quick recap of the different steps to vote by proxy on June 9th. The proxy is the formality according to which you (the principal) authorize a third person (the agent) to vote in your place and on your behalf. It is free.

This applies to you if:

  • You have the French nationality
  • You are registered on the electoral roll in FRANCE
  • You are visiting Australia during the elections (tourists.)

It also applies to you if:

  • You have the French nationality
  • You are registered on the consular electoral roll in AUSTRALIA [Sydney circonscription covers the whole country]
  • You will not be able to vote in person in Australia at the time of the elections.

in those instance, you can establish a proxy. Your proxy agent has to be enrolled in the same electoral office where you are registered.

To set up your proxy, please visit the government website MaProcuration.gouv.fr. Subsequently, you will receive a reference for your request with which you will go to the consular agency in Melbourne, with your French identity document.

At the end of this procedure, your proxy will be validated.
